Customer Reviews:
(Nd3-HB bridge, to replace an X2N-B)
Hey David,
Got my bass back today, and had a chance to play it through my rig for about an hour. I LIKE this pickup a lot! It has more "girth", seems to sustain longer, and when I kick on the booster... HOLY CRAP!!! With the X2N-B, the volume didn't increase, just the level of distortion. With your pickup, the volume seems to double!! With the booster off, I still get a good amount of growl, even though your pickup is lower output, so it's perfect in that respect! The big test will come on Monday night when i rehearse with the band.
...
I've had a couple of rehearsals with the pickup now, and it's a keeper. It is, of course, lower output, so I did have to increase the volume of my amp a bit (went from 2 to 3 on my VBA 400, and per your suggestion adjusted the pickup close to the strings - a lot closer than I had the X2N-B). The tone is WAY better/balanced, so I also adjusted the EQ on the amp. It sustains longer (I always thought pickups had little effect on that, unless they were super low output... live and learn, hehehe...), it's MUCH "clearer" sounding (by that, I mean I can hear the individual notes a lot better now), and as I said previously, has more "girth". All in all, an excellent pickup.
Thanks

(Nd3-45 set for custom six string in customer supplied wooden cases:)
David, I finally got the sixer hooked up. Amazing. That's what my bass should sound like. Thanks. The bass never sounded like it does now. It's awsome! Super bridge bark mixed with the fat neck pup. Beatiful. It's 33" and the low B has such a strong fundamental note that goes on litterally forever. I imagine that has ALOT to do with your pups.

(Extra wide sensing (now standard) Nd3-40 set for Dingwall bass)
I received the Custom 5 strings set!
and I installed it yesterday,
I wired parallel (neck) & series (bridge),
and will toy with switching later.
I'm using them with my bass's stock EMG preamp.
Totally flat EQed have very big bottom & punch!
They has a lot of output, a lot of clarity, and overall string to string balance is improved a lot.
Final words,
Good Jobs!
Best regards,
Pornpot P.

David,
I’ve managed to install the pickup (read here understanding wife….)
My jaw is still on the floor….
Sound is full, round and defined. String to string balance is perfect
(at least on my combo amp).
The pickup is dead quiet. Even in front of my old CRT monitor, the noise
non-existent in parallel mode, a little with series mode, but that is expected
(I think)
Great sounding pickup, best 100.00 I’ve invested in my bass.
Now I’m back to playing….
Thanks again for everything.

I just put new strings on the bass, and it sounds excellent. Very versatile.
With the bridge in parallel, it gets a very broad frequency response, lots
of highs and lows. Not terribly bright, but it’s a great, very useable
tone. Perfect for slapping and such, which does work surprisingly well
for a fretless bass.
With the bridge in series, it’s basically the same as parallel, but warmer,
with more low end.
The neck in parallel sounds terribly similar to my dad’s Rickenbacker 4001.
The neck in series is like a very articulate string bass, beautiful sound.
My favorite sound is with the bridge in series and the neck in parallel,
both up all the way. Probably the best sound I’ve heard from any bass.
The voicing reminds me of a Warwick, but much clearer with some more low-end.
It’s very clear, pure, and rich.

Thanks David! Very good sound, I am very happy! It is what I was looking for! A really transparent sound well balanced and noiseless!
